Finally it seems that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is getting a fan favourite feature in multiplayer, namely Ranked Play.
As it stands right now, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer matchmaking system is SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking). In essence SBMM and Ranked Play is the same thing as they should both match you with players of a similar skill level.
However, if Ranked Play is implemented similar to how it was in previous Call of Duty games, players should not only be paired of a similar skill level but they’ll also be added to leagues/divisions with players earning promotions or demotions based upon the points they earn during matches.
Unfortunately at this time we don’t know when Ranked Play will be introduced into Black Ops Cold War or how it would work, so it’s all guess work at this time.
However Treyarch community manager Josh Torres has at least confirmed on Reddit that Ranked Play is coming at some point, so at least that is something.
“Yes. Ranked Play will be a thing,” the developer said in a post. “I currently don’t have a timetable to share with you, however.”
In related Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War news, Season One gets into full swing from today as a plethora of new content is coming to multiplayer, as detailed by Treyarch on Twitter.
This week we’re getting the new multiplayer map Sanatorium, the new Dropkick multiplayer mode, a new Zombie Cranked mode, a Zombies Onslaught map and Intel Raid, new weapons and much more.
Oh and let’s now forget that from today right through to Thursday, January 21st its Zombies Free Access Week across all platforms in which Black Ops Cold War is available.
